I had short ribs in Harrisburg VA years ago. They were sweet & sour but flavored some kind of fruit I think?

Chances are they were slow cooked possibly like a crock pot recipe. They had an exta flavor other than your standard vinegar, molasses, ketchup etc. It was a fruity accent. Possibly grape or some other non citros ingrediant. This was at the Inglewood in Harrisonburg VA about 30 years ago but I never forgot the ribs. Anyone have a recipe to enhance the sweet side with a flavor. It was not apple.

Thanks
